Overprotection of your child
Overprotection can be a very dangerous behaviour for your child. The first two years of the development of a child are the most important in their lives. During this time they learn to trust in you and in others. We have to help them to learn and grow – For that we need to give them space to explore their environment. Giving them to other people to hold even if they cry for a little is not a bad thing. Let them play with other kids. Think about the following question: What can happen, if I do not interrupt this situation? Are the consequences acceptable compared to what the child can learn? – Of course, this means not putting your child in a dangerous situation.
How can I raise my child to do things of their own will and without pressure?
Be a role model for your child.
Firstly, you have to be a good example and after that, explain why she or he has to do this. In most cases that is enough, because your child can see that you are doing the same and will follow your lead.
In some cases, where your child has to do something that they are reluctant to do, but it has to be done (chores etc), this is where you need to guide them clearly and gently enforce your authority. Respect comes through love and clarity.
